5 Super Easy + Quick Homemade Baby Puree Recipes

We KNOW how busy the MOM life is, so here are some recipes you can use that will not take much of your time and baby will love them!

We have included 5 simple + easy recipes to use if you are making purees from scratch. These are great to use with any food blender or processor, but you can also mash them up yourself.  You can store your purees in ice cube trays or any small container--just make sure to keep track of when you made it. 

Let's get to the recipes!

1. Peach Puree

*You can use fresh peaches or thawed frozen sliced peaches to make this recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of peach slices
  • 2 tablespoons- 1/4 cup of water (as needed)

Directions

  • Put your peach slices in blender or food processor of your choice
  • Blend until smooth, then add water/formula/breastmilk to a thin consistency
  • Pour completed puree in a small strainer to strain out any pieces of peach skin
  • Serve to baby immediately or store for later use.

2. Butternut Squash Puree

*You can use a fresh butternut squash or thawed frozen cubed butternut squash for this recipe

Ingredients

1 Butternut Squash

Directions

  • Cut Butternut Squash in half, scoop out seeds
  • Place an inch of water in backing pan or dish, place squash halves face down in the pan or dish
    • Be sure to check on the water level while it is baking
  • Bake at 400 degrees in the oven for 40 minutes OR until the skin or shell puffs out and the halves seem soft
  • When fully cooked, scoop out tender squash from the shell
  • Place squash in your choice of blender or food processor 
  • Add water, formula or breastmilk until you get the desired thin consistency

*When using thawed frozen Butternut Squash--simply microwave the bag until cooked (if they came in a microwavable bag), boil/steam, or bake them.

3. Banana, Blueberry + Flax Puree

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh or frozen Blueberries
  • 1 Teaspoon of ground Flax
  • 3 tablespoons of cooked Oatmeal

Directions

  • Peel and slice banana
  • Wash and drain blueberries
  • Place bananas and blueberries in the blender or food processor, then add ground flax and cooked oatmeal
  • Blend all ingredients until you get desired thin consistency--feel free to add water if needed

4. Green Bean Puree

*You can use fresh green beans or thawed frozen green beans for this recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of green beans (fresh or frozen works)
  • For added flavor you can add finely chopped basil, cilantro or parsley (OPTIONAL)

Directions

  • Trim the green beans
  • Finely chop spices (if you are adding them in)
  • Fill a medium sized saucepan with about 2 inches of water and bring water to a boil using medium heat
  • Place green beans into a steamer basket over the boiling water or place straight into boiling water. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until tender. 
  • Let the green beans cool, then you can place them in the blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, add water in increments until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Serve to baby now or store for future meals

5. Mango + Banana Puree

You can use a fresh mangoes or thawed frozen cubed mangoes for this recipe

Ingredients

  • 1-2 fresh mango (needs to be ripe and feel soft) OR use thawed frozen mangoes
  • 1 Banana (riper bananas will be easier to work with)
  • For added flavor you can add a dash of nutmeg (which is known to help with digestion)

Directions

  • Cut the mango into slices or cubes or use already thawed mango chunks
  • Put mango(es) into the blender or food processor with the peeled banana and any other add-ons or spices. Blend for about 1 minute.
  • If needed, add water, formula or breastmilk to thin out the puree to your desired consistency
  • Serve to baby now or store for later meals
